Heritage does not stop at national borders. Therefore, the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands (Rijksdienst voor het Cultureel Erfgoed, RCE) works closely with a wide range of foreign partners active in the field of global heritage. You can read more about our international collaborations in this section.
Heritage helps build mutual understanding. The RCE seeks to forge international links around topical themes and priorities in order to share knowledge and understanding and to cooperate through dialogue. We look for shared challenges where we can learn from each other. We often play a facilitating and connecting role in these partnerships, building upon our particular knowledge, especially with regard to current themes like climate change, sustainability and research into the repurposing of monuments.
Our international activities are undertaken within the fields of Maritime Heritage, Archaeology, Collections and Museums, Landscape and Monuments, and they are rooted in international treaties, agreements and policies, and in programmes such as International Heritage Cooperation.
