Shared cultural heritage of the Netherlands and Japan

This report presents an overview of cultural heritage shared by the Netherlands and Japan.

Dynamic history

Japan possesses heritage with Dutch roots. This falls into several categories: maritime heritage, archives, historical architecture and urban planning, and museum collections. The Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands has studied this heritage in the context of the Shared Cultural Heritage and Maritime Heritage programmes. This report presents the outcome of the study and lists a number of recommendations for the joined preservation of this heritage.
