Protocol for the identification of human remains

When investigating shipwrecks, especially if the ships were wrecked during acts of war, there is a high probability of also finding human remains. This is why the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands uses this protocol for dealing with human remains.

As owner and manager of Dutch waters, the government plays an important part in maritime heritage care. The RCE works together with partners in order to establish sustainable heritage management on an international level. A series of protocols has been published in order to achieve this, amongst which this protocol for handling human remains.
