Archaeological Underwater Management Process

This document explains the proces to manage underwater heritage. It is based on Dutch archaeology quality standards and the best practice rules for underwater archaeology described in the Annex to the 2001 UNESCO Convention on the Protection of the Underwater Cultural Heritage.

As owner and manager of Dutch waters, the government plays an important part in maritime heritage care. The RCE works together with partners in order to establish sustainable heritage management on an international level. A series of protocols has been published in order to achieve this, amongst which this flowchart about the proces of managing underwater heritage.
