Identification Mission Historical Rolling Stock Indonesia

In October 2014, a team of Dutch experts visited the island of Java, Republic of Indonesia, to carry out an inventory of historical rolling stock.

This report presents the identification mission’s findings. The purpose of the mission was to assess the state of maintenance of historical trains and how the Netherlands might contribute to the preservation of this mobile heritage. The report lists the main observations, conclusions and recommendations, and offers suggestions for a future international collaboration between the Netherlands and the Republic of Indonesia. The mission was part of the Shared Cultural Heritage programme. At the request of the Indonesian Railway Company, the mission was carried out by the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands and the National Narrow Gauge Railroad Museum in Valkenburg, the Netherlands.
