Subsidy applications for monumental residences in the Caribbean Netherlands are subject to a minimum and maximum amount. The subsidy percentage is 100% of the costs that are eligible for subsidy.
Minimum amount
The subsidy is intended for monuments that require maintenance or need to be restored. For that reason, a minimum amount has been defined: only projects involving more than $ 25,000 in preservation costs eligible for subsidy can be considered for subsidy.
Costs that are designated as not eligible for subsidy during the assessment of your application by the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands (RCE) will not be included in the determination of whether your application meets or exceeds the minimum amount. Costs that are not eligible for subsidy are those costs that are not considered eligible for subsidy according to the guidelines for preservation costs eligible for subsidy, or costs that cannot be subsidised based on one of the refusal criteria stated in Article 7 of the subsidy scheme. If, after assessment of an application, the total costs eligible for subsidy do not meet or exceed the minimum amount, the entire application will be rejected.
Example
The total costs of the submitted estimate amount to $ 30,000. During the application assessment, $8,000 of that amount is designated as not eligible for subsidy, for example because it involves installing a new kitchen. As a result, the total costs eligible for subsidy are $ 22,000. This is below the minimum amount of $ 25,000, so the application is rejected.
Maximum amount and subsidy percentage
The subsidy is granted for a maximum of $ 100,000 in costs eligible for subsidy. The subsidy percentage is 100%. That means that the maximum amount of subsidy that can be received per monument is $ 100,000.
In this context, it is worth noting that the amount of the estimated total costs also affects the ranking of the subsidy application in allocating the available funds. Within the same category, an application with lower total estimated costs will take precedence over an application with higher total estimated costs.
