NAR 82: The luxurious lives of lords and ladies . Animal remains and their spatial distribution at Huis ter Kleef (c.1250-1573 AD)
This publication on the archaeological research of thousands of animals remains allows for an insight into the daily life at a castle. The research shows a wealth of information on the consumption pattern of the castle’s aristocratic inhabitants and their other activities such as hunting and falconry, and on the use of the different castle buildings. The chosen excavation and collection methods allowed an adequate analysis of the waste flows and spatial distribution of the animal remains.
The book was written for professionals, archaeologists, and archaeozoologists, and for those with an affinity for castles and the history of Haarlem and its surroundings.
