Dutch shipwrecks can be found all over the world. The Netherlands claim the ownership of the Dutch East India Company (VOC), the West India Company (WIC), Admiralty and more modern war ships. The International Programme for Maritime Heritage is therefore involved in the management and research of many of these Dutch wrecks. As the flag state it always works closely together with the coastal state in order to be effective in its goal to protect, preserve and investigate these elements of a shared heritage.
